Menopause


Menopause is often mistaken for a single event, when in fact in is a transition and menopause lasts a long time. Menopause can start as soon as in your 30' s and last up until you have reached 50 or even 60 years old. Symptoms of menopause may appear even before your period ends permanently. You can say that you reached menopause when you have not had your period for about one year.

What is also important about menopause is that this is not an ilness, but a biological process. Menopause is associated with hormonal changes and also pyshical ones, but menopause does not mean the end of ones youth or sex life. It is possible that you may even spend half of life after menopause. The symptoms of menopause are very unpleasant at times and therefor treatment is often used in menopause. Hormonal therapy is the most often used in menopause and it also prevents diseases that are often associated with getting older. However, recent studies showed that this kind of treatment for menopause may in fact put you at risk of having serious health problems. Using the hormonal treatment for menopause may have as a result breast cancer, heart problems and even a stroke. So maybe it is better to let menopause follow its own path.

For those women that still want treatment for menopause, the estrogen therapy is the safest. This menopause therapy lasts for a short period of time. There are also many other menopause treatments optional for the women who want to control the menopause symptoms.

Menopause is a process that happens when the ovaries stop the production of estrogen, thus shutting down the reproductive system. In menopause, the body tries to addapt itself to the changes and many symptoms may occur. Hot flashes, palpitations are very common menopause features. There are also psychological problems when dealing with menopause. Depression, irritability and the lack of your concentration may also appear when a women is going through the menopause changes. Another characteristic of the menopause is erratic menstruation.

The menopause is in theory just the ending of the menstrual period, but the whole menopause process can take as long as four years. It is also possible that a woman suffer from menopause only half a year, but in most cases, menopause last about one year. This process, menopause, can also be induced by surgery. The procedure for inducing menopause is simply removing the ovaries.
